CHALI MULENGA Livingstone THE 15TH SESSION of the Zambia-Botswana Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPC) has resolved to include new areas of bilateral cooperation such gender and child development. The resolutions which were read out by Ministry of Foreign affairs permanent secretary Chalwe Lombe that the commission has also resolved to add wildlife and simplified trade regimes. Mr Lombe said that the two countries agree to initiate an MOU on diplomatic consultations which should encompass midterm review meetings aimed at monitoring and evaluating implementation of the resolutions of the JPC sessions. Mr Lombe said this at David Livingstone hotel in Livingstone on Thursday that the commission also agreed that the follow up mechanism should include quarterly meetings between diplomatic missions and respective ministries of foreign affairs of the two sides with a view to fast tracking implementation of the agreed commitments. CHALI MULENGA, Kazungula COOKING OIL WORTH thousands of kwacha has been destroyed after the driver of a South African registered truck and trailer lost control after a quarrel with his wife in the truck along Kazungula Livingstone Road. Quick action by the police averted a near looting of the cooking oil by the villages. Police had a tough time restraining the villagers from looting. Kazungula district commissioner Pascalina Musokotwane confirmed the incidence as she rushed to the scene of the accident. “The truck belonging to Westmead Hauliers registration number FJH 358 FS swayed which resulted in the trailer registration number FJL 343 FS, which had cantons of cooking oil slide off the truck,” she said.       Ms Musokotwane said the driver of the truck lost control after he swayed and cooking oil boxes begun falling out of the truck. CHALI MULENGA, Kazungula THE GOVERNMENTS OF ZAMBIA AND BOTSWANA have urged the contractor for the Kazungula Bridge to speedy up the construction works instead of wasting time in making catch up plans. Minister of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication Yamfwa Mukanga said it is unacceptable that the consultant and his contractor were busy making catch plans on the time that was being lost. “Let’s do some serious catch works or not simply plans. We don’t want to so many catch plans, which might end up reaching 20 catch plans without anything to show on the ground,” he said. This came to light when, Mr Mukanga toured the Kazungula bridge site, he said the people are interested in seeing the bridge on the river. Ms Kalipi a 20 year old mother two children says she is amazed with the things that she has learned in caring for her son.   The confident mother states in the amazing words that it is only God the creator who knows why some of the things that people go through happen.
