lets work together chiefs urged-govt

THE minister of chiefs and traditional affairs has called on
traditional leaders in the country to support the Government agenda of
development in the country.
Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Deputy minister Susan
Kawandami said that traditional leaders play a critical role in the
development of the country.
The minister was accompanied by Southern Province Permanent Secretary
Edwin Zumbunu, Ministry of chiefs and traditional affairs permanent
secretary Coillard Chibbonta and National Heritage Conservation
Commission Executive (NHCC) Director Collins Chipote.
“Chiefs like you play a big role in the development of the country
and that the Government expects you to support its developmental
agenda,” he said.
Speaking at she paid a curtsey call on his Royal Highness Chief
Munokalya Mukuni of the Toka-Leya people of Kazungula at his house in
Livingstone yesterday, she said that traditional leaders should
support the development agenda as they would always be there all the
time with the people.
She said that the government would like to work together with
traditional leaders in harmony.
Ministry of chiefs and traditional affairs permanent secretary
Coillard Chibbonta said that traditional leaders are the ambassadors
of the ministry and that the success or the down fall of the ministry
was dependant on the chiefs themselves.
“As a ministry we value your contribution and that new want you to
advertise the ministry so that people can come learn from the ministry
in the region,” he said
Chief Munokalya Mukuni of the Toka-Leya people in Kazungula has said
traditional leaders want to work with government of the day.
He said that if the traditional leaders must work with the government
so that it can deliver as the chief would be doing themselves a favor.
