THE Livingstone Magistrate’s court has issued a bench warrant against the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Acting Director Chuma Simukonda for contempt of court by ordering police to disobey court orders.

CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone THE Livingstone Magistrate’s court has issued a bench warrant against the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Acting Director Chuma Simukonda for contempt of court by ordering police to disobey court orders. Magistrate Benjamin Mwelwa ordered that bench warrant against Simukonda be returned on February 2 this year. “I have therefore issued a bench warrant against the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Acting Director Chuma Simukonda for contempt of court which is returnable on 2, February, 2016,” he said. This is in a case in which Reuben Chikumba 34, a human resource officer at former ZAWA, assaulted his workmate, Nosiku Linenga 37, a public prosecutor. Facts before the magistrate Mwelwa are that on September 4, last year, Chikumba of Nottie-broad area assaulted Linenga by squeezing and pulling his private parts during a dispute and thereafter, allegedly facilitated his dismissal. In an interview with journalists shortly after the absolute discharge of NUTELAW, LIBES branch chairperson Joseph Kaira, 45, his deputy John Nkosi, 28, and Silvia Lutangu Long, 52, a union member. NUTELAW president Mathews Mwaba said that the situation at LIBES was aggravated by management’s failures to meet the workers and dialogue on their grievances. “As a union we are very grateful and it is good that justice has prevailed on our members. CHALI MULENGA Livingstone CHIEF NYAWA of the Toka-leya people in Kazungula district has hailed President Lungu for reconstituting the house of chiefs this year. The traditional leader has since urged chiefs who were nominated by others in the recent meeting that was held in Choma to share information because it was critical. Chief Nyawa said the traditional leaders should ensure that they give their reports to other chiefs in the province who will not be part of the debates. He was speaking in an interview in Livingstone that the issues that would deliberated upon were critical in the development of chiefdoms in the country. “I want to call upon the traditional leaders throughout the country, who have been selected to represent the interests of their subjects to ensure that they give feed back to the people, so that they can the developmental government programmes in their chiefdoms,” he said. Mrs. Situtu said she was a truthful and honest person if she decided to join another political party; she would have done so publicly. Three Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) lecturers have pleaded guilty to the charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone Three Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES) lecturers have pleaded guilty to the charge of conduct likely to cause breach of peace. This is in a case in which National Union of Technical Education Lecturers and Allied Workers LIBES branch chairperson, Joseph Kaira,45, who is also a lecturer for building and construction, his vice chairperson, John Nkosa,28,  a lecturer for business studies,  and Silvia Lutangu Long,52, also a lecturer for business studies and also a union leader are charged with conduct likely to cause the breach of peace 178 (f) of the penal chapters 87 of the laws of Zambia. CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone MINISTER of General Education John Phiri has said Government is developing a national assessment frame work to guide implementation. Dr Phiri said this national assessment frame work help the use of assessment data at all levels in the ministry.  “Zambia in the last few years, we have been working on reforming our assessment processes and aligning them within our institutional structures,” he said.  Dr Phiri said this in a speech read on his behalf by Chishimba Nkosha at the second Learning Metrics Task Force (LMTF) learning champions forum in Livingstone, he said three phases of work done by the LMTF are all important. “The first by determining why learning is important, then followed by understanding how learning outcomes should be measured followed by how the measurement itself can improve the quality of education,” he said. A 36 year old police officer has told the Livingstone high court that the firearm which was used in the robbery could penetrate even a short distance.

CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone A 36 year old police officer has told the Livingstone high court that the firearm which was used in the robbery could penetrate even a short distance. This is in a case in which John Sikota, 23 is charged with aggravated robbery and attempted murder. It is alleged that on June 16 last year in Livingstone, Sikota jointly and whilst acting with other people unknown, he robbed Lilly’s bar and stole a laptop and cash K1, 100 altogether valued at K4, 190. Detective constable Boniface Kalonde, was testifying before, Livingstone high court judge in charge Ernest Mukulwamutiyo, he said he rush to the crime scene with his equipment which he examined. Kalonde said he discovered there was an empty bullet cartilage outside the building. “We search the ground of the crime scene and near the entrance of the bar, we found two empty bullet cartilage. This is in a case in which Reuben Chikumba 34, a human resource officer at The Department of National Parks and Wildlife formerly Zambia wildlife Authority (ZAWA), assaulted his workmate, Nosiku Linenga 37, a public prosecutor. This is in a case in which Enock Munsaka is charged with aggravated robbery.  It is alleged that May 8, last year in Livingstone, he jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown robed Owen Katungu Muteba of 27 cases of Astel lite beer and 8x 5 litre boxes cellar Cask wine altogether valued at K4,160. Muteba was testifying before, Livingstone high court judge in charge Ernest Mukulwamutiyo, he said that his intention was to make the car stop. CHALI MULENGA, Livingstone MINISTRY of community development and social welfare in Livingstone has given 21 women groups K90, 751 through a micro credit scheme in order for them to improve their businesses. Hitchins and sons general dealers is the first and James Peter Alan Hitchins as the first and second respondents respectively. Over 500 marketeers filed through interim injunction AMC legal practitioner of Livingstone pending determination of the matter by the high court. In an affidavit in support of the interim injunction signed by Southern Cross Borders traders Limited, chairman, Simon Chande said the respondents did not follow the law as he did not given the traders six months notice as required by the law.
