PATRIOTIC Front (PF) district Livingstone chairlady Florence Situtu
has denied allegations that she has defected to the United Party for
National Development (UPND) so as to aspire for a parliamentary seat
on party’s ticket in Kazungula.
Mrs. Situtu said she was a truthful and honest person if she decided
to join another political party; she would have done so publicly.
In a walk in interview, Mrs. Situtu said that there were people were
spreading falsehoods that she wants to contest the Katombola seat in
Kazungula on the UPND ticket.
“I have not defected to the UPND, I am still a PF member, who is the
district vice chairlady, it is sad that some enemies of the party are
spreading wrong information about me,” she said.
She said it is sad that people that felt that she was a threat to them
were busy spreading falsehoods.
“I think those enemies of the party; feel that I am threat and they
want my position as district vice chairlady,” she said.
Mrs. Situtu said the only intention that she has is to contest the
parliamentary seat on the PF ticket.
”I am a local person, who has relatives here who belong to different
political parties, and just because I am a member of PF that does not
stop me from interacting with them as a result of my political
affiliation,” she said.
Mrs. Situtu said she was still bona fide member of the ruling PF and
active vice chair lady.
“I will continue to mobilize the women in the PF in Livingstone so
that the party can rally behind Edgar Chagwa Lungu so that on August
11 this year he will be able to carry the day,” she said.
