corruption needs concerted efforts

The Commonwealth governance advisor, Dr Roger Koranteng has called for
concerted efforts in the fight against corruption in Africa.
Speaking at the close of the 2nd commonwealth regional Conference for
heads of anti corruption agencies in Africa at sun hotel in
Livingstone.
Dr Koranteng said that there is need for concerted efforts as
corruption affects the vulnerable in society.
“If there is corruption it affects the vulnerable the women, children
that will suffer the consequences of the corrupt acts,” he said.
Dr Koranteng said that the anti corruption agencies are the voice for
the vulnerable thus the need to stamp out corruption.
Commonwealth governance advisor said the fight against was against the
powerful in the society thus the need to know the fight against is
national duty.
“It is not about a salary but it is call for national assignment
because the anti corruption agencies deals with the ugly and the
dirty,” he said.
“You should learn more than you talk and be level headed,” he said
Dr Koranteng said the fight against corruption is very important in
the promotion of god governance.
The Commonwealth governance advisor said they are no better
institutions that could fight than the anti corruption agencies and no
institution could replace them.
Southern province minister Obvious Mwaliteta said the government would
continue to ensure that a conducive and sustainable environment is
created for the fight against corruption.
He called all African government to ensure that they provide the
necessary financial and technical support to anti corruption agencies
for them to operate effectively.
He advised the African countries to be more innovative in their fight
against corruption.
“We are all aware that corrupt people are day and sharpening their
skills of how to elude the law enforcement officers. As anti
corruption agencies you can afford to sit back and watch you in go
ahead of these thieves at all times by ensuring that you work out new
innovations in the fight against corruption,” he said.

“I am aware that political will and involvement of other non state
actors such as civil society media is critical in the fight against
corruption,” he said.
He said that the president Michael Sata has demonstrated political
will in the fight against corruption in the country.
He said the president knows the importance political will in the
fight against corruption.
Anti corruption commission (ACC) director general Mrs Rosewin Wandi
said there is need to relentlessly forge ahead in developing
strategies to tackle systemic and administrative corruption in the
African countries.
