mutual cooperation impressive

The Governments of Uganda, Zimbabwe and Ghana says they are impressed
with the mutual competition and cooperation that exist between the
Zambia and Zimbabwe countries and described as a classic mutual case.
Uganda minister of tourism professor Ephraim Kamuntu said that the
classic mutual competition that would exist especially during the 20th
Session of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)
general assembly to be held in 2013 in the tourist capital.
Livingstone city in Zambia and Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe will
next year co-host the 186 member countries UNWTO general assembly at
which more than 2, 000 delegates across the world are expected to
attend.
Speaking in an interview in Livingstone, the minister said the a
result of the mutual cooperation it would be easy for the two
countries to jointly host the UNWTO meeting and called for the
removal of border barriers between the two countries.
“The two countries should develop partners as they are shining
example for other African countries of mutual cooperation,” he said.
“The hosting of the assembly would benefit the two countries and that
it will very easy to host,” he said.
Ghana deputy minister of tourism Baba Jamal said that he was impressed
with the display of the tourism products in Livingstone especially the
hotel.
He said that his country want to replicate what they had seen we want
to go and produce what the country have seen in Livingstone and would
want to come back into the country.
“It is very interesting to see the beautiful hotels that are in
Livingstone, which are quite neat, we also want to have such hotels in
our country in the heart of the city, the museum, where history of the
country is well preserved,” he said.
“We shall certainly take back the experience that we have had in your
country (Zambia) as we also have the rich history about the slave
trade but we have not preserved it the way you have done,” he said.
He stressed the need for African countries to work together for the
development of tourism.
He said there is also need to promote intra Africa tourism.
The trip to Livingstone has been useful and we would like to come back
with the family to visit this country
Zimbabwe Ministry of local government rural and urban development,
Matabeleland north province, Senator Thokozile Angella Mathuthu,
governor resident minister said the cooperation that is between in the
two countries is very important and that the two countries should
always work together.
She said the Zambia played an important role in the liberalization
struggle and that the friendship that exists between the two countries
should continue.
“We value the cooperation of the two countries and we hope that our
country can give back,” she said.
“It is very necessary to come together to prepare for the UNWTO and
that Zambia will be good partner to Zimbabwe in the hosting of the
UNWTO assembly,” she said.
Deputy Minister of tourism and foreign affairs Dr Effron Lungu said
that he was also impressed with what the country has had to showcase
to the tourists.
He said that Zambia offers more than Zimbabwe and noted that the two
countries are sesame twin in terms of development.
He said that it is god that the people did not have knowledge about
Zambia have seen for themselves.
