murder suspects in court

THREE prime suspects purportedly linked to the recent killing of the Spanish pilot Sergio Valle and a security guard Jacob Chirwa, at Zig Zag lodge in Livingstone two weeks ago, appeared yesterday before the Livingstone magistrate’s court on fresh charges jointly after the third suspect was arrested last week.
Two of the suspects, Lucky Dube, 26, a charcoal burner of Libuyu and Crispin Mafulo, 24, of Malime village, had appeared before the court last week for mention and Magistrate Andrew Kasongo charged them with five counts of aggravated robbery, attempted murder and murder.
But Mr Kasongo said he had to read fresh charges to the suspects because Frank Mulosi, 30, a brick layer of Libuyu compound, had just joined the duo and charged them with seven counts of aggravated robbery, attempted murder and murder which they said they understood.
Mulosi was arrested after a tip-off from the police and he’s not the one who was arrested at the court premises last week after Dube and Mafulo appeared for mention.
In count one, it is alleged that Dube, Mafulo and Mulosi jointly and while acting together robbed Vasco Sibalwa of a phone and money collectively valued at K4 million using a pistol while in count two the allegation is that the trio jointly and while acting together robbed a French national Marie Carre of K4 million using a pistol.
In count three the allegation is that the suspects jointly and while acting together robbed Silvia Kaseni of a phone valued at K750, 000 using a pistol and in the fourth count it is alleged that they robbed Mr Valle of his camera valued at US$300.
In count five the trio is alleged to have attempted to cause the death of Ms Carre who was shot in the shoulder but survived during the robbery which saw the death of Mr Valle and Mr Chirwa.
The allegation in count six is that the suspects murdered Mr Valle and in count seven it is alleged that they murdered Mr Chirwa.
Magistrate Kasongo adjourned the case to May 15, 2012 for mention saying the suspects will continue appearing before his court for mention until the time they will be committed to the High Court.
Ends.
